SYC
-
The SYC opens in early June dependent on staff availability and when we can put boats in the water. Please watch our socials and join our newsletter for dates on our 2025 opening!
-
The SYC is run by a group of volunteer board members and handle the ins and outs of the Club.
-
The SYC does not provide life jackets. Members and guests are encouraged to bring their own that comfortably fit them and that are Type III Coast Guard approved. You can learn more about the different types of life jackets here: boatus.org/life-jackets/types/
-
These are general guidelines that we ask our staff to follow when putting members out on boats:
Ages 6 and under - must be accompanied by an adult on the boat
Ages 11 and under - must be accompanied by an adult on the water
Ages 12 to 16 - must have an adult nearby (i.e. Farm Pond beach)
Ages 16 and up - no restrictions
Membership
-
Memberships will become available in early 2025. This is typically around mid-February. Watch our socials and join our newsletter to be notified when they are up!
-
If you were a member last season (2024), you are eligible for the discounted rates for returning members. If you were members in previous years but not 2024, you are not eligible.
-
Yes! We offer non-resident memberships but must be sponsored by a current member in good standing. This does not include a parking pass for Farm Pond. If you have any further questions, please contact info@sherbornyachtclub.org
-
Our boats are only available for current members and their guests. We do not have a point of sale at the waterfront, and cannot offer rentals.
-
Parking passes are available through the Town of Sherborn by a lottery system. The results of which have been released on their website.
Lessons
-
Class sign-ups will be available in early 2025! Make sure to grab your membership before signing up to get a 20% discount off of all classes.
Descriptions of the classes and the form to register interest can be found here: www.sherbornyachtclub.org/classes
-
No, our lessons and classes are open to everyone, regardless of residency and membership status. However, members get access to member-only clinics as well as discounts for classes and events.
-
You can email instruction@sherbornyachtclub.org with the name and DOB of your sailor and we will check the database to see what levels they have participated in and give recommendations.
-
Absolutely! Email instruction@sherbornyachtclub.org with a description of what they have completed in other camps and their level of comfort, and we will give a recommendation for the level they should participate in.
-
Unfortunately, the grade limits we set for the classes have to be followed due to the content taught in every level. We love to have as many as possible participate and try to offer classes for all ages. If you have any questions, please email instruction@sherbornyachtclub.org.
-
Yes, although we recommend to take the two-week sessions in full as much as possible. Students feel more comfortable in their abilities after participating in the two-weeks consecutively. If you have questions or would like to sign up for non-consecutive weeks, please email instruction@sherbornyachtclub.org.
-
When registration becomes available, we will create waitlists for each class.
Fill out this form to be added to the waitlist and we will let you know if and when more spots become available. Please note, in some cases, we cannot offer a waitlist due to the capacity of our boats.
-
We request that all sailors be over the age of 7, but there is no maximum age. Our instructors have taught sailors from the ages of 7 to 76! If you have any concerns or questions, please contact instruction@sherbornyachtclub.org.
Moorings
-
There can only be one boat per mooring due to the likelihood of the anchors being dragged with the weight of more than one. Please email waterfront@sherbornyachtclub.org if you have any questions.
