Rules and Guest Policy

For your safety and enjoyment, please review the SYC Rules and Courtesies with all family members and guests.

  • Members shall follow all rules of the Sherborn Yacht Club. Members assume all risks and liabilities associated with boating, paddle boarding, and activities on and around the dock. Use of all club boats and docks is at your own risk. Parents assume all risks and liabilities for their minor children.

  • The club vessels are for use by SYC members only.

  • Please follow the check-in and check-out procedure for using all watercraft.

  • Children 16 and under are required to wear life jackets on the docks and while using watercraft.

  • Adults are strongly encouraged to wear life jackets. Life jackets (one per person) must be on board every boat.

  • Please wear shoes on the docks.

  • No feeding any wildlife, including the fish.

  • Do not land SYC watercraft on a private beach or the island.

  • Please follow directions given by SYC staff; they’re looking out for your safety. 

  • Please be polite and respectful of others and the wildlife.

  • No swimming off docks except when explicitly allowed by the SYC staff.

  • No eating at the docks, unless authorized as part of an SYC-sponsored event.

  • No fishing from the SYC docks.

  • No intentional capsizing without permission from the SYC staff.

  • Do not use any vessel during thunderstorms. If you hear thunder, return to the docks immediately. If you see lightning, head for the nearest shore.

  • Do not use any boats in winds above your ability.

  • We reserve the right to curtail boating during high winds or storm conditions.

  • When you’re finished, please secure your vessel and put all equipment away in its place.

  • Please take your belongings and trash with you. Leave no trace. 

  • Have fun with your family and friends!


Guest Policy

  • Guest visitors of The Sherborn Yacht Club are required to check in with SYC staff and complete the Member Guest form upon arrival.

  • Guests must adhere to SYC rules, courtesies and guidelines.

  • Guests must be accompanied by the hosting member at all times while at the Club.

  • Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests.

  • Members may be disciplined for infraction of guest policies or violations of Club Rules by their guests.

  • Family memberships include 4 complimentary guest passes.

  • Partner and individual memberships include 2 complimentary guest passes.

  • Guest passes can be purchased as follows, up to a maximum of 12 per season.

    • (1) for $20

    • (6) for $100

  • A guest pass is good for one day only.

  • Guest passes must be purchased online or at the SYC boathouse; we do not accept cash.

  • Guest passes are not refundable or transferable.
